Greg Guidry is a shareholder in the Lafayette, Louisiana office of Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C., a satellite office of the firm’s New Orleans office. For more than 40 years, Greg has successfully represented management (both private and public sector) in all aspects of labor and employment law, including advice and counsel, union avoidance, collective bargaining, litigation (including class actions), and manager training. He represents clients, including non-profit organizations, domestically and abroad across a wide range of industries, such as healthcare, construction, energy, manufacturing, staffing, retail, and hospitality.

Greg is active in numerous business and professional associations, including the Society of Human Resource Management and its local chapter, ASHRM, for which he currently serves as director of governmental affairs. Greg is the past Chair of the Louisiana State Bar Association Section of Labor and Employment Law and acts as permanent chair of its annual employment law seminar. He also serves as a management representative on several committees of the American Bar Association’s Section on Labor and Employment Law.

Greg was recently selected to serve on the Employment Law Committee for the Louisiana State Law Institute. He is also President of the Management Labor & Employment Roundtable, a national association of labor and employment lawyers and other professionals representing management in labor and employment law matters.

Heather Mazac - USI

Session: It’s All Fun and Games: Employee Benefits Compliance in 2024

Heather Mazac joined USI Southwest’s Dallas office in 2020 as our in-house ERISA Counsel, focused on helping our department and our clients stay compliant with requirements of various benefits laws.

Before joining USI, Heather worked for the U.S. Department of Labor in the Employee Benefits Security Administration. She also practiced law for the City of Dallas and the North Central Texas Council of Governments. Heather has over 13 years of employee benefits law experience.

As ERISA Counsel, Heather monitors changes in benefits laws (health care reform, HIPAA, COBRA, etc.), provides assistance to clients with respect to specific legal questions (discrimination, privacy, etc.), conducts seminars to distribute legislative requirements, and writes weekly updates covering new developments and general issues regarding health and welfare plans, among many other things.

She earned her B.A., M.S. and Ed.D. in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce and her J.D. from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.

Originally from Garland, TX, Heather now resides in Grand Prairie, TX with her four children. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching football, and travelling.

Marina Guerra is an Outreach and Education Coordinator with the EEOC- Houston District office. Originally from Corpus Christi, Texas, she attended Texas A&M- Corpus Christi and graduated with honors receiving a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice. In 1999, shortly after graduating, Marina moved to Houston and was hired with the EEOC through a Scholastic Achievement program. She worked as an Investigator from 1999 through 2012, when she was asked to work a detail as the Acting Intake Supervisor. After a second detail, Marina was promoted to a supervisory position in 2014, and held the position until 2020. In 2020, she was promoted to her current position. Marina is very passionate about the work she does and is especially honored to carry out the Mission of the EEOC daily. In addition to her duties of Outreach and Education Coordinator, Marina also serves as the Houston District Office’s representative for Diversity and Inclusion and facilitates the special emphasis programs, celebrations and morale events for the Houston District Office.

Monique Gougisha Doucette - Shareholder, Ogletree Deakins

Ms. Doucette is the Managing Shareholder of Ogletree Deakins’ New Orleans office. She is also the chair of the Firm’s Workplace Investigations and Organizational Assessments Practice Group. She leads internal investigations of critical, and often sensitive and high profile, issues for firm clients. These include investigations of complex matters involving claims of pattern/practice discrimination, systemic inequity in workplace practices, executive misconduct, sexual assault, and unconscious bias. Ms. Doucette has assisted clients in various industries with organizational and cultural impact assessments, mitigating brand-altering crisis and developing strategic action plans based on investigative findings.

Ms. Doucette is a frequent speaker on various employment law topics and a contributing author to publications such as Bloomberg Law, the Louisiana Bar Journal, New Orleans CityBusiness, and HR Magazine. In 2018, she served on the board of directors of the New Orleans chapter of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) as the board attorney. In August 2019, Ms. Doucette was appointed by the Mayor’s Office as a member of the Ethics Review Board – the board authorized to enforce the Code of Ethics for the City of New Orleans and work cooperatively with the Office of Inspector General, who conducts criminal and administrative investigations involving city employees.

Natalie Canestro Workforce Technology Practice Leader, HUB International South

Session: Improving Talent Management with Human Capital Management (HCM) Analytics

Natalie “Nat” Canestro is the Workforce Technology Practice Leader for HUB International South. In this role, Nat provides Human Capital Management technology consulting based on the client’s unique needs, recommendations on technology solutions, system optimizations, and technology change management, and facilitates issue resolution. Nat oversees a Sr. Technology Practice Specialist who handles project management for vendor vetting, technology implementations, optimizations, and issue resolutions and oversees the HUB South Employee Navigator team.

Nat began her career in the insurance industry in 2003 as a personal lines representative for State Farm In 2004, she moved to Mid Penn Insurance/First National Insurance in Pennsylvania as their Financial Services Manager. In this role, she managed both individual and group clients in traditional, voluntary, and individual health, life, and disability coverage, as well as student accident coverage. In 2009, Nat joined The Richards Group (Vermont) as an Employee Benefits Account Executive and the agency’s Wellness Coordinator. At The Richards Group, Nat implemented several Benefit Administration platforms for clients. In August 2014, Nat became the Benefits Director at The Brattleboro Retreat, an 800 employee mental health hospital. Along with benefits management, Nat was responsible for oversight of the company’s HRIS platform. In August 2015, Nat joined HUB International as an Implementation Manager, overseeing and providing ongoing service to clients on the Benefits Administration platform. While managing benefits administration implementations, Nat developed a deep understanding of the ACA reporting process, coding and data integration, EDI, and data integration between Payroll, HRIS, and Benefit Administration systems.

Nat is a doctoral candidate in the business management program at Walden University . She is a 2020 graduate of Western Governor’s University with a Master’s Degree in Management and Leadership and a 2001 graduate of Sacred Heart University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry. She is the Organizing Team Secretary for the HUB Women Network and joined the Employee Benefits Best Practice Team in 2021. Nat has served as an executive board member for the Windham County Vermont Relay for Life and the Winston Prouty Center in Brattleboro, Vermont, and volunteered at the Chesterfield County, South Carolina Animal Shelter. She lives with her husband and three children in South Carolina.

Scott Huffstetler is a partner who practices law out of the Baton Rouge, Houston, and The Woodlands offices of Kean Miller. Prior to joining the firm, he served as a Law Clerk to United States District Court Judge Frank J. Polozola, Middle District of Louisiana. Scott practices in the firm’s labor and employment law group. He advises and represents employers on a variety of labor and employment issues, including discrimination, harassment and retaliation litigation; administrative proceedings before the Department of Labor (including, without limitation, the Wage and Hour Devision), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Louisiana Commission on Human Rights, Texas Commission on Human Rights, National Labor Relations Board, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration; traditional labor arbitration and litigation; day-to-day advice regarding the ADA, FLSA, FMLA, NLRA, OSHA, Title VII and state employment laws regarding employment discrimination, wage payment, workers compensation, and unemployment compensation; corporate training regarding discrimination, traditional labor matters, and diversity and inclusion; and employment contracts, covenants not to compete, other restrictive covenants and confidentiality agreements.

Scott has particular experience in defending employers in discrimination, harassment, and retaliation lawsuits and defending business owners in public accommodation claims in state and federal courts.

Scott is a Board Certified Employment Law Specialist, certified by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization. He is listed among the top labor and employment lawyers in the State of Louisiana by Chambers USA 2023. Scott is listed as a Rising Star in Louisiana Super Lawyers, 2015-2018.

Before her career as a teacher, Secret worked as a Human Resource Expert at Target Corporation overseeing more than 200 employees. She also served as a Student Success Coach at City Year Baton Rouge, where she focused on improving student attendance, behavior, andacademic performance. Secret holds a Bachelor's degree in Communication Studies with a minorin Leadership and Development from Louisiana State University. She's also a member of the Lambda Pi Eta National Honor Society of National Communication Association. In the summer of 2023, Secret was accepted to LSU's Masters’ Program in Curriculum and Instruction and is thrilled to pursue her advanced degree to continue to pour her new knowledge into others. Vicky Bowers is the founding partner of Bowers Law Firm, L.L.C., a multi-jurisdictional boutique law practice that concentrates in employment law, family law and government law. She is co-founder of the Bowers Mediation Group, offering the unique service of co-mediation with a mental health professional. She graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Law (chief justice, Moot Court Board) and Mount Holyoke College. She was a law clerk for Hon. Irvin Kilcrease, Jr., Chancery Court, Nashville, Tenn. Admitted to practice in Tennessee and Louisiana, she counsels businesses and government agencies with conflict resolution in employment-related matters, including internal investigations, policy and procedure development and harassment training. Ms. Bowers also represents employees in Title VII, FLSA, FMLA and workers compensation matters. Will Campbell - Director, b1 Foundation

Will M. Campbell, Jr., MA is the Director b1 Foundation the community outreach organization of b1 Bank. We previously served as VP of Commercial Services/ Mortgage Retail and the SBA Manager for Capital One Bank’s SBA Lending Division, governing financial matters with the Small Business Administration. Prior to joining Capital One, Will served as the Director of the Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southern University. He was responsible for overseeing and managing the center, while providing business consulting for citizen in seven parishes. The center had a strong focus in creating entrepreneurs in Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas, with a special emphasis in contractual services. Will is currently serving as an adjunct professor at Southern University, where he teaches Entrepreneurship in the MBA program. In addition, Will was the regional manager at Liberty Banks throughout the Baton Rouge and Opelousas regions. He also has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry; including his roles as the Vice President/Banking Center Manager for Bank One, and a Branch Manager for Wells Fargo Financial. Mr. Will Campbell is well known for his involvement in the lending industry, economic development programs, and community outreach initiatives. His experience in lending has empowered him to help many small businesses define and achieve their goals. His areas of expertise include loan packaging, strategic business planning, bank management and entrepreneurship. He is also the Senior Pastor of Serenity Praise and Worship Tabernacle Church and a Managing Partner of Millennium Consulting Network, Inc. Will is most proud of his 17 years of service as a Captain in the United States Army Reserves, where he served as a Traffic Management Officer and Family Support Liaison. Will received his Master of Arts degree in Management and Leadership from Liberty University. He received a certificate of Entrepreneurship Educators from Babson College, and he is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Management and Leadership.
